WhatsApp Offers the Ability to Share Files Without Internet.

WhatsApp Offers File Sharing Without Internet.

WhatsApp is introducing a feature similar to AirDrop on iPhone. This feature, first seen in the Android beta version of WhatsApp in April 2024, is now being tested in the iOS beta version and is called “Nearby Share.”

According to a report by WABetaInfo, this feature allows users to share various files, such as photos, videos, and text documents, with nearby smartphones without an internet connection.

Yes, it will indeed be possible to share files with other smartphones via WhatsApp without an internet connection. This feature will be very useful as it will allow sharing large files with friends or loved ones even in areas with poor or no internet coverage.

However, the feature will work slightly differently on iPhones compared to Android devices. On Android, it will function similarly to AirDrop. In contrast, iPhone users will need to scan a QR code to use this feature. It is unclear why WhatsApp has chosen QR codes for iOS devices.

The new report states that this feature will only work if the sharing request is approved by the other party. Only those in the user’s contact list will be able to share files. All shared files will be protected by encryption to prevent access by third parties.

As the feature is currently being tested in beta versions, it is difficult to say when it will be available to all users.
