ATP Representative Visits Pakistan for International Events.
Lahore: Andre Kornilov, a representative of the International Tennis ATP, visited the tennis center in Pakistan to review facilities for international events.
During his visit to the tennis center at Nishtar Sports Complex, he was briefed by the President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.
The purpose of Kornilov’s visit was to assess the facilities for ATP Challengers and ITF events and to potentially give clearance for these events to be held in Pakistan. Based on the ITF representative’s report, Pakistan could be approved to host international competitions.
Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi stated that since becoming the president of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, he has been striving to organize international competitions in Pakistan. He mentioned that for the first time, a representative of ATP, the highest governing body in tennis, has visited Pakistan.
Qureshi added that while they cannot send all their players abroad, they can host international competitions locally. Due to security concerns, ATP has only approved Islamabad for hosting events so far.
Qureshi expressed his efforts to bring international tennis to Lahore.
If the Lahore tennis center gets clearance after this visit, they plan to organize events in February and March next year.
