Cellular and Internet Services will be Suspended on Youm-e-Ashura.
The Punjab Home Department has sent a letter to the Federal Interior Secretary and the Zonal Director of PTA requesting the suspension of mobile phone services in 21 districts of the province during the 7th and 10th of Muharram.
In several areas of these districts, mobile service will be completely suspended. These areas include Bahawalnagar and Bahawalpur on the 7th and 10th of Muharram, Rahim Yar Khan on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Wazirabad, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Rajanpur on the 10th of Muharram, Nankana, Narowal, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, and Mianwali on the 9th and 10th of Muharram, and Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi on the 7th and 10th of Muharram, while Bhakkar will experience mobile phone service suspension from the 8th to the 10th of Muharram.
The 17 districts in Punjab where mobile phone service will not be suspended include Lahore, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Sargodha, Khushab, Chiniot, Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, Sahiwal, Okara, Pakpattan, and Lodhran.
The Punjab Home Department has also sent the frequency details of the sensitive and specific areas within the mentioned districts where mobile phone service will be suspended.
